IBS Research Centre Supports Coca-Cola PNG with Strategic Market Research Amid Rising Industry Competition
Port Moresby, October 2016 — In response to increasing competition and shifting consumer preferences in the beverage industry, Coca-Cola Amatil (PNG) Ltd. engaged the IBS Research Centre to conduct a comprehensive market research study across four major regions of Papua New Guinea.
The study, conducted in Port Moresby, Lae, Mt. Hagen, and Kokopo, reached a total of 1,640 respondents through a stratified random sampling approach. It aimed to provide Coca-Cola PNG with clear, actionable insights into brand positioning, consumer behavior, and market challenges in both sparkling and non-sparkling beverage categories.
“Coca-Cola has long been a market leader in PNG, but emerging brands and economic pressures have changed the competitive landscape,” said a spokesperson from IBS Research Centre. “Our research helped Coca-Cola PNG evaluate how their products are perceived and how consumer preferences are evolving.”
Key insights focused on regional purchasing behavior, emerging trends in health-conscious beverage consumption, and brand loyalty across demographic segments. These findings enabled Coca-Cola PNG to refine its marketing strategy, explore product innovation in non-sparkling segments, and enhance regional engagement initiatives.
This project reflects the growing importance of localized market intelligence for global brands operating in Papua New Guinea and underscores IBS Research Centre’s expertise in delivering impactful, industry-specific research solutions.
